ECW Results 10-14-08

Matt Striker and Todd Grisham called tonights ECW. The show started with Mark Henry walking down the isle with Tony Atlas at his side. Footage was then shown of last week when Mark Henry gave Jamie Noble a beating he would not forget as he continued to beat on Jamie even after the bell rang. ECW champion Matt Hardy then came in to help Jamie and was able to hit a Twist of Fate on Tony Atlas but got caught by Henry who gave Hardy a slam and then a splash. Atlas then began talking about Mark Henry getting another shot to reclaim the ECW championship. All of a sudden ECW GM Teddy Long came out. Teddy Long told Atlas and Henry that the fans will vote for who will face Matt Hardy for the ECW title at Cyber Sunday. Henry asked who the other two candidates are. Teddy Long said that there will be qualifying matches tonight and with that, Evan Bourne was introduced for the first match. Bourne got into the ring and stood facing Mark Henry, then offered a handshake. Henry seemed to go for a handshake, then Bourne pulled his hand away fast, smiling at the joke.

Evan Bourne vs. Chavo Guerrero (Qualifying Match #1)

In this match, the winner would become one of three Cyber Sunday choices for Matt Hardy's title match opponent. At one point during the contest, Bourne had knocked Guerrero to the outside. Bourne ran across the ring to come off the ropes and then did a running flip out to crash down onto Chavo. The two continued going at it, both achieving near pinfalls. Chavo was able to hit the Tres Amigos suplexes on Bourne, but at the third attempt, Bourne countered out and kicked Chavo to the corner. Bourne charged at him, but Chavo elbowed Bourne down. Chavo went to the corner turnbuckle to attempt a Splash. Bourne got to his feet then flipped up to deliver a headscissors, flinging Chavo down to the mat. Bourne quickly climbed the turnbuckle and landed his Shooting Starpress to win it. Bourne had little time to celebrate his win, as Mark Henry stormed down to the ring and beat him up due to the fact Bourne pulled a handshake away earlier in the night.

Striker and Grisham discussed how fans can vote for Triple H's opponent at Cyber Sunday. Choices are Jeff Hardy, Vladimir Kozlov, or both men in a Triple Threat for the WWE title.

Footage was shown of Vladimir Kozlov attacking Jeff Hardy after his match on last week's Smackdown. Hardy tried to hit a Whisper in the Wind from the corner, but Kozlov batted him down from the air, then let out a primal scream. This Friday the two superstars will do battle on Smackdown.

Backstage, Teddy Long was talking on the phone then said he had to go as he saw Tiffany standing in his office in a costume. Tiffany pulled out an Elvis costume for Teddy saying it was appropriate for Vegas. Just then Jack Swagger came in demanding a title shot against Matt Hardy. Long said Swagger's only been in ECW for a month and hasn't earned it. Tommy Dreamer came into the office next asking if he could have a title shot after Cyber Sunday. Swagger got into Dreamer's face saying it's not 1996 anymore. Swagger told Dreamer that some wrestlers are creating legacies in WWE now, rather than "bastardizing them".

Striker and Grisham announced "Propane Nightmares" by Pendulum as official Cyber Sunday theme, then discussed how fans can vote to choose the special guest referee in the Batista vs. Chris Jericho World Heavyweight title match.

The Miz and Morrison shown walking backstage en route to the ring for Morrison's match with Finlay.

Finlay vs. John Morrison (Qualifying Match #2)

Miz accompanied Morrison to the ring, with Hornswoggle accompanying his father. Morrison worked to wear down Finlay using an arm submission hold, but Finlay got to his feet. Morrison tried to whip Finlay to the ropes at one point. Finlay came back and kicked Morrison who had ducked down. Finlay went to the other ropes and Miz tried to swipe his leg. Finlay turned to look at him as Morrison rushed at Finlay. Finlay quickly turned and tossed Morrison over the ropes onto Miz. The ref began to confront Finlay in the ring, and Hornswoggle came in. While the ref was turned away, Hornswoggle ran across the ring and dove out onto both Miz and Morrison, landing in a pile. Hornswoggle quickly scurried back under the ring. The match continued after a commercial break with Morrison trying to wear down Finlay. During the break Morrison managed to kick Finlay in the head from the outside. The match continued, with Hornswoggle eventually returning from under the ring and getting into the ring. Hornswoggle got in a sleeping position, and the ref became distracted as did Morrison. Finlay had a shilaleigh and prepared to go at Morrison. Mike Knox emerged down near ringside, and yanked the shilaleigh away. The distraction let Morrison deliver a kick to Finlay's head from the ropes. Morrison had a near pinfall with Finlay kicking out. Morrison tore off the turnbuckle cover, and the ref went to re-fasten it. Meanwhile, Cryme Tyme appeared from under the ring with a shilaleigh and handed it to Finlay. Morrison turned and was clocked over the head by a shilaleigh. The ref dropped the turnbuckle cover and turned in time to count the pinfall for Finlay. Cryme Tyme got into the ring to celebrate with Hornswoggle and Finlay after the win. Finlay slapped hands with both of them, then as they turned their backs, Finlay tapped each man and clocked him over the head with the shilaleigh. Finlay and Hornswoggle went to the top of the ramp, still celebrating. All of a sudden, Mark Henry and Tony Atlas came out from backstage and attacked Finlay. With Finlay down, Henry grabbed the shilaleigh and paced around as ECW ended.

That's right, the show ended with only two ECW matches tonight!
