Raw Results 10-20-08

Candice Michelle & Kelly Kelly Vs Katie Lea Burchill & Jillian Hall

Jillian Hall performs her own rendition of Willie Nelson's, "Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys". Kelly Kelly puts an end to all of that though as she dropkicks Jillian in the back. They start out, Kelly with a flip off of Hall when Hall catches the leg, pin attempt, tag out to Michelle, they execute a double team elbow drop. Michelle with a Blockbuster on Hall, cover and a two count. Michelle tries to whip Hall into the corner, Hall reverses and charges, Michelle gets out of the way, gabs Hall, goes up top, warps her legs around and tries to choke Hall over the ropes. Burchill breaks it when the ref's back is turned. Burchill tags in, gets a quick pin attempt after rolling Michelle back into the ring, then lays in an armbar of some sort. Michelle gets to her feet, punches out, elbows out and finally breaks it, tries for a clothesline and gets caught into a backbreaker by Burchill, she covers for a pin attempt. tags into Hall. They whip Michelle into the corner, Hall with a backflip reverse elbow into the mouth, cover, two count. Hall hips Michell into her corner, Michelle runs forward and nails Burchill in the mouth with a forearm, forearm for Hall, makes a quick tag to Kelly. Kelly comes out firing, headscissor takeover on Hall. Hall recovers and throws her into the corner, charges, Kelly gets the boot up, cross body block off the corner, covers, Burchill breaks it up, Michelle comes in with a leg lariat on Burchill to take her out, then breaks up Hall trying to pin Kelly. Kelly with a dropkick on Hall and a cover for the win.

A recap is shown of the Batista - Chris Jericho confrontation last week. Chris Jericho comes out for an unannounced segment. Cole reminds fans that at Cyber Sunday they will vote for the special referee for that match. The choices are "Stoned Cold" Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels or Randy Orton. He chews out Lillian Garcia for not introducing him the second he came out. He introduces himself as the World Heavyweight Champion, and tells the fans and the wrestlers at the show that this is a fact that they need to be accustomed to. The fans start chanting "Loser! Loser!", Jericho calls them disrespectful. He says that he will reign supreme on Sunday, no matter who the referee is. He criticizes the fact that the fans get to choose the officials, and criticizes Adamle for not respecting him as champion by allowing the fans to make the pick. Jericho says it's a joke and it isn't fair. Jericho says that after Sunday, when he retains, the fans will have to admit "that I am the best in the world, and that I am the most dominant champion the world has ever seen in years." Batista's music hits, the number one contender makes his way down to the ring. "Are you serious?" asked Batista. "Are you seriously out here demanding respect?" Batista says that respect isn't demanded, but earned. He says that if Jericho can beat him at Cyber Sunday then Jericho may earn a lot of people's respect (he says this while he's laughing). Batista says that until that match takes place, "will you PLEASE stop your whining, and crying, and shut your damn mouth! Or I'm gonna shut it for you!" WWE Raw GM Mike Adamle comes out, clipboard in hand. "Gentleman, gentleman, let's save it for Cyber Sunday, where you two can get your hands on each other." Adamle tells Batista and Jericho that they will take on the same three opponents in separate Gauntlet Matches. Adamle walks off, Batista smiles at Jericho. Jericho slaps Batista in the face and then bails the ring, walking backwards and pointing his finger at Batista saying, "That's your first lesson in respect, wipe that stupid smile off your face. That's your first lesson in respect, do you understand me?"

John "Bradshaw" Layfield Vs. Charlie Haas as "Stone Cold" Steve Haastin

JBL's limousine pulls into the arena, Layfield steps out and walks to the ring. JBL complains that it ruins his legacy by having him wrestle a "has been wrestling impersonation", but then goes into his spell about how he's rich and the fans are poor, until Haas' introduction interrupts. Lillian Garcia announces, "Ladies and gentleman, paying homage to the man he personally voted for as the special guest referee at Cyber Sunday, introducing Stone Cold Steve Haastin! Bradshaw takes a mic and says, "You got to be kidding me!", to which Haastin replies, "WHAT?" Layfield replies, "You, nor 'Stone Cold', could never lace my boots!" The bell rings, and Haas hits JBL with a Thesz Press, then beats down JBL into a corner with a flurry of stomps and punches. JBL fires out with a knee to the midsection, Haas tries to retaliate with a Stone Cold Stunner, but JBL bocks it with a shove-off, then kicks him in the head, then takes him out with the Clothesline from Hell for the victory. JBL leaves the ring, takes a mic and tells Haas, "And THAT is the bottom line, because JBL says so!"

Rey Mysterio Vs. Gene Snitsky

Snitsky takes the early offensive, bringing Mysterio down to his knees with a kick to the midsectio nand a flurry of elbow drops before we get a pin attempt that Mysterio kicks out of. Snitsky puts Mysterio in the corner, kicks to the chest, referee breaks. Snitsky pulls him up, whips him to another corner, more kicks to the chest, whip to the opposite corner, Snitsky fires with a boot to the face, Mysterio ducks it. Mysterio lays in a few punches, leapfrogs into the ring off the top rope with a Thesz Press, dropkick, back to the top turnbuckle for a Mushroom Stomp on Snitsky's chest, then springboard moonsault off the middle rope into a hurracanrana, Snitsky lands on the middle rope. The 619 follows, springboard frogsplash off the top rope, the cover and the pin as Mysterio gets the victory.

Kofi Kingston & CM Punk Vs. Miz & John Morrison

Punk and Morrison start this match off, feeling each other out, finally getting a collar-and-elbow tie-up, Punk with a reverse waistlock into a takedown. Morrison gets to his feet, breaks it after a trio of reverse elbows, tags in Miz, kick to the midsection by the Miz. Miz whips Punk off the ropes, Punk ducks a clothesline, kick to the back of the head, drags Miz to his corner and tags in Kingston. Double team whip off the ropes for a double team kick to the midsection and back of the head, Kingston covers, two count. Kingston with an armbar, Mizain whips him off the ropes, Kingston ducks another clothesilne and dropkicks Miz in the back of the head, sending him out of the ring. Miz crawls back in, Kingston with a front face lock, tags in Punk, Punk with a kick to the shoulder, armbar, kick to the face, three kicks to the chest of the Miz, cover and a two count. Punk stiffs Miz with some forearm shots, tags in Kingston, they execute a double team suplex, Morrison comes in, they catch him and throw him on top of the Miz, who fell to the outside. Miz & Morrison take their time to recover outside, Miz gets in, Kingston whips him over, covers, two count. Kingston with a front facelock, tags into Punk, who gets in the corner, Kingston whips Miz in and Punk takes his head off with a count, cover, two count. The match went back and forth until late in the match the Miz tries to attack Punk, but then bails out of the ring as Punk chases him off. Morrison tries to attack from behind, but Punk catches him in the Go To Sleep. Miz slaps Morrison on the back for a legal tag in as Punk hits Morrison with the Go To Sleep. Miz rolls up Punk from behind for the win.

Backstage Jericho is complaining at Mike Adamle about respect. Adamle says that this is what it's always been about - respect for Jericho as a champion, respect for the former champions, respect for Batista and, most important, Jericho's own self-respect.

Intercontinental champion Santino Marella and Womans champion Beth Phoenix come down to the ring and Marella is dressed in a garrish mix of Elvis-style bouffant, a kilt, gold face paint and a guitar. Marella explains that he's dressed as part of all his potential opponents at Cyber Sunday because he explains why they are unfit has beens, saving his worst comments for The Honkey Tonk Man himself, and says that if they can even roll Honkey Tonk Man fat body down to the ring, Marella will flush him down the toilet again. This brings out "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, who can barely get a "HOOOOOO!" out before Marella comments how sad and out of shape he is. Duggan replies, "Marella! You look like you're on the last minute of your fifteen minutes of fame!" He calls Marella a flash-in-the-pan, and that he doesn't appreciate Marella disrespecting "my generation." Marella asks why Duggan is so angry, and it is because he doesn't have a Honk-A-Meter like he does! Marella says that Duggan was never an Intercontinental champion, and the best he ever was was a gold medalist at the Goodwill Games, or, perhaps, a four-star general at the Salvation Army. Duggan says, "Just remember you wouldn't even be Intercontinental Champion if it wasn't for his boyfriend (referring to Beth Phoenix). Phoenix gets in Duggan's face, he tells her calm down. Marella says he's now been insulted and this demands a fight. He strips off his clothes and hands them to Phoenix, and then tells Phoenix perhaps she should give them to Duggan so he can dress better. Phoenix throws the clothes in Duggan's face, allowing Marella to take the guitar and take out Duggan with a shot to the head. The duo leave the ring.

Cryme Tyme Vs. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBaise with Manu

Before the match, Rhodes, DiBiase and Manu attack Gespader & JTG from behind, before the bell even rings. After a good couple of minutes, DiBiase recovers the belts and they pose in the ring over Cryme Tyme. The match had no winner as it never officially got started.

GAUNTLET MATCH: Batista Vs ??? and Chris Jericho Vs ???

Mike Adamle is in the ring and says that Batista and Jericho will be in the ring together for this match, Batista will start off first. That first opponent? William Regal. Bell rings, Regal tries to attack, Batista whips him off the ropes, spinebuster, Batista Bomb, pinned. Jericho gets in the ring, demands Batista gets out immediately, referee holds off until Regal can get to his feet. Once he does, Jericho finishes him off with the Code Breaker. Adamle tells Jericho that he'll start the next match against... Mark Henry. Jericho tries to attack Henry with punches, Henry swats him down like a fly. Jericho attempts to clip Henry's right knee, but Henry throws him out of the ring. Jericho gets back in, and Henry whips him from pillar to post. Jericho is thron into the corner, Batista taunts him, which allows Jericho to be splashed by Henry. Jericho does get an upper-hand, nailing Henry with the Lionsault at one point. Jericho pulls the turnbuckle off the corner, referee catches it and puts it back on. Jericho slides out of the ring while the ref is busy, grabs the World title belt, slides in and clocks Henry with it. Too bad the referee caught him and disqualifies him. Batista gets in the ring, waits for Henry to get to his feet. Henry lays in a nice punch on Batista, but Batista retaliates with a spinebuster for the pin. Adamle announces that Jericho will start the last match of the night... against... KANE. Kane is having his way with Jericho, uppercut in the corner, stomping him down. Kane comes back after a ref break and lays in more punches, another ref break. Jericho gets to his feet and ambushes Kane with a dropkick to the left knee, then lays in multiple kicks to the back of that knee, putting Kane in the corner and stomping him in the knee. Jericho rolls out of the ring, grabs the leg, spins Kane around and whips the knee int othe ringpost. Back in the ring, Jericho wraps that leg around the middle rope, kickign it more. Kane responds with a big right hand, but Jericho with another kick to the knee, knocks him on his back, and tries to roll him into the Walls of Jericho. Kane fights him off, both men are down. When both men get to their feet, Kane fires first with a right hand, a clothsline on Jericho, whips Jericho into the corner, clothesline, then a side slam out of the corner. Kane goes for an elbow drop, Jericho rolls out. Jericho tries for the Codebreaker, Kane swats him away. Kane goes to the top turnbuckle for the Clothesline from Hell, Jericho leaps onto the ropes to shake them, knocking Kane off and racking him on the top, Jericho runs over, punch to the face, applies a front face lock, punches, tries for a suplex off, Kane fights him and headbutts him in the head. Kane sets up for the clothesline, leaps and connects! Kane covers but theres a kickout. Kane signals for the chokeslam, Jericho gets to his feet, Kane locks it on, but Jericho elbows his way out. Jericho charges, Kane catches him and throws him over the top rope out of the ring. Batista steps down off the apron and confronts Jericho, backing him up to the apron. Kane reaches over, grabs Jericho by the hair, pulls him back into the ring, whips him off the ropes, big boot to the face, cover 1,2,3 - Kane beats Jericho. Batista's turn, but Jericho gets back up on the apron to argue with Kane. Kane turns around and punches Jericho right in the chest, knocking him off the apron. Kane turns around as the bell rings and gets a spear from Batista. 1,2,3 just that quick and it's over. Batista poses in the ring on the turnbuckle, but Jericho raises the WWE World Heavyweight Championship above his head outside the ring.
